Old Town Key West Has Two Versions. Here's How to Find the Right One.

Every tourist ends up on Duval Street. Most of them spend the whole trip there. That's fine โ€” Duval has its place. But Old Town Key West has at least three distinct neighborhoods beyond the main drag, and the difference between a good trip and an unforgettable one is which ones you find.

The Bahama Village neighborhood (southwest, near White Street) is the one most visitors miss. It's historically the neighborhood where Bahamian immigrants settled in the 1800s โ€” quieter, more residential, and with food options that are genuinely local. Sandy's Cafรฉ is here. The Bahama Village Market happens Friday mornings.

The Historic Seaport area (northwest of Mallory Square) is where the working waterfront still actually works. The shrimp boats and charter boats are real. Grab breakfast at the Seaport's morning coffee window before the day-tripper crowd shows up.

Walk west: The further you get from the cruise terminal, the quieter and more genuine the neighborhood becomes.
